Agree with your point/s. But this comes down to money (as with all things) and the media agencies will not play fair or honest until there is a clear path for how the funds lost from an 'honest' position will be replaced. Aegis being caught is no surprise but the 'I'm shocked' reaction is quite surprising. Carat's willingness to use 'unorthodox' tactics to increase revenue was looked upon with envy by other Media 'Agencies' in the 90s. Many agency groups copied them an still follow and have even improved on those practices today with the tacit endorsement of Advertisers. All this to say that Advertisers and Agencies are in the same **** creek and are fighting each other. A perfect illustration of this is the 4A (Ntl. Agency Organisation) vs ANA (Ntl. Advertiser Orgnization) fight in the US. Once again, 'Money is the root of all evil'. A bit Biblical put very appropriate...

Great new perspective on the "campaign" against agency deals Brian.

Coincidentally (but not surprisingly) we covered this exact story on today's #MediaSnack episode.

The 'disease' existed well before any 'medicine' had been considered.
Great Brian--
"Agency" relationship used to connote a fiduciary like responsibility. Steadily these conflict of interest issues have crept into the business. I know you don't like to complain about procurement, but I do believe the medicine is worse than the disease. If you treat all your suppliers like criminals they may be inclined to behave that way. What is needed is a return to trusted partnerships.
Cheers!
