No specifics means that we are right back where we started: Advertisers suspicious that something is going on without specifics to point to. Agencies able to reassure and deflect as no specifics can be pointed to. The question is: Are we agencies or brokers? Not agencies masquerading as brokers. Sitting together to write up a new contract will not lead to anything drastically different than what exists today. The issue here is a financial one directly tied to historical practices. Until they are addressed and solved, nothing will fundamentally change in the industry. Until a CMO accepts to remunerate its agency correctly. Until agencies give up this source of income. Nothing will substantially change in this industry. Unfortunately, looking at the report as a beginning for the industry to truly reform itself may me a self delusion.

Underpaid media agencies keeping "agency Volume bonuses" unattributable to individual brands has been common practice globally for decades. The choice has always been simple...pay a fair fee in exchange for your brand share of the bonuses. Easy to say...hard to do.
