Clients get the ageny and the team they deserve: A good client that knows the business and how it works will get a good team.Aclient that only cares about costs will get a team that fits that objective and the client who pays little attention to the media agency will get an agency interest and team quality and costs to match his level of interest. This is not magic, this is simple logic.

As concerns pitches, agree 100% with Brian: The cost and upheaval in terms of service for what is essentially a cost lowering exercise. If you do not believe this, try onvincing the C suite that you are going to an agency that has higher costs because they have a better strategic capability.

Yes, it's true that agencies put more effort into client acquisition than into client retention. The true value of long term relationships needs to be better explained and sold.

Tricky as other suppliers have to tender rather. An even worse process in my view. Also I agree with you about better to have a lon agency relation ship but I do not believe bran custodianship should ever pass from being the client's responsibility! Your comeents re teams are valid. I have a career stopping moment when shell changed from Ogilvy to JWT. I said Okay if the Ogilvy team could join JwT , both being part of WPP! I agree clients generally call for pitches quickly. Having said that I think agencies get to complacent about changing teams etc. A client account need old GADs and a rotation of young creatives to constantly give it refreshment.
